ONE POUND.  That’s all I’m going to try to lose right now.  I’ll let you know when I’ve lost that ONE POUND.  Then, I just might try to lose another pound!

Hubs is working this weekend, so I’ve got a little extra down time on my hands. I think today is the perfect day to try to bake some Whole Wheat bread! I’m going to try a recipe that I saw on another blog. I’ll let you know how it turns out! The modified recipe calls for gluten, do you ever put that in your breads? Its supposed to make the bread lighter. I picked up some made by Bob’s Redmill. I’m using the flour made by the same people also. I am also going to add some freshly ground flax seed!

I Got… February 19, 2007

Filed under: Shoppping — avanna @ 10:33 am

I went shopping on Saturday!  Well, me and the fam!  I’ve got to tell you what I bought!

I bought a pair of Ralph Lauren jeans originally $95 for $23
another   pair of Ralph Lauren pants originally $95 for $23
I bought a L/S lavender t-shirt           originally  $20 for $10
I bought a 3/4 length white button down orig.    $50 for $12
I bought a pair of pants to match the lav. shirt   $32 for $8

All of that would have cost me $292!  I got it all for $76 + taxes!

Not too shabby, Huh?

I’m off to the dr.  I’ve been sick for 2 weeks and I’m not getting any better.  Yesterday I fell asleep in the recliner and when I woke up, my back hurt every time I took a deep breath.  I’m hoping all of this crap didn’t settle in my lungs while I was asleep!  I really don’t want to deal with pneumonia again!

Home School and Socialization February 14, 2007

How often do you hear that home schooled children don’t get enough socialization? Well I’m here to tell you that they can get plenty of socialization and the kids aren’t the ones that people need to worry about. Its the MOMS!

I need socialization so bad, I think I’ll go crazy soon, maybe I have already and I’m too cookoo to know it!

I am thankful that Hubs has a job, very thankful. I’m thankful that he brings home enough money that I am able to be home with my children and that I’m able to home school also!

As much as I absolutely love my kids, I really don’t want to even hear their voices right now.

Am I a horrible mother because I want just a while with NO NOISE? 3 kids in a 970 sq ft home is just about too much to bear.

Broke Again February 12, 2007

Filed under: Bills, Daily Life, Home School, household duties — avanna @ 12:26 pm

Well we are broke again.  We got our income tax money back and it’s almost gone.  But, we’ve got the taxes for the house paid for another year(until next tax return) and we’ve got tags for Hubs toy and we will be paying the house insurance pretty soon!  Which will leave just enough for us to have a pretty decent time on vacation!  Not too shabby, huh?

Speaking of Hubs toy, he thinks a guy at his work may want to switch toys!  We’ve been wanting to get a Jeep, and a guy at his work is thinking about trading his Jeep for Hubs truck!  When we went on that scenic drive a few months ago, we were all wishing we had a Jeep to go and get all muddy in!  We can’t all fit in the truck and the truck can’t go into the mud at all!!!  SO, just maybe we’ll be trading.  I won’t count my chicks before they are hatched, but it sure would be nice!!

How’s your Monday going?

I am teaching #1 some TX history!  I found a pretty good site with a bunch of info.  So today he’ll be studying State Symbols ~ Bird, Tree and Motto!  I’m still looking for some good info on the Republic Of Texas, before Texas was a state.  Know of any good sites?  I may go to Mardel and see if they have anything.

5 Minutes February 9, 2007

Filed under: Daily Life, Family, Kids, Marriage, Shoppping, household duties — avanna @ 4:03 pm

I’m taking 5 minutes to get on this thing!  I just haven’t been able to blog all week and it’s driving me crazy!  I’ve even caught myself as I’m about to fall asleep thinking about what I’m going to blog about the next day and then I run out of time!

SO…..I’m going to just ramble about it all!  #3 is sick again, #1 started getting sick last night and it kinda hit him today while we were at the gym, #2 STILL has his HORRIBLE cough!  SO, I called and left my # for the nurse to call me back and she said that about 6 kids were in the office today that were there 2 weeks ago when my kids were there and they now have the FLU!  She said that they had swabs done last time like my kids and were negative, today the swabs were positive!  She said I could bring them in for a swab, but she wouldn’t recommend it because the treatment would still be the same, Rest, Fluids, Tylenol, Motrin and anything over the counter that would bring comfort!  So, #3 is home from school having a snack and then we’re off to Target to raid the Health and Beauty section!

AND, I’m still upset with Hubs.  It just really irritates me that he and his mother get to choose the vacation destination for our family!  Before he went to her house we were talking about where we wanted to go and I kept telling him that 7 days on a beach wasn’t really my cup of tea.  SO, of course we are staying 7 days on a beach, cuz that’s what he and his mother like to do.  THANK GOD, SHE’S NOT GOING WITH US THIS TIME!  We went to her house the other day and I was nice and as we were leaving, #2 went up with out being asked and gave her a hug.  Guess what she told him?!  She told him “Oh, I like giving #1 a hug better than you, his coat is warmer.”  But of course Hubs doesn’t see/hear anything!  During that visit, she also informed me that the 2lb jar of mineral bath salts I gave her for Christmas isn’t a smell she likes, she let me know that she’ll put it in her bath and stand it for a few minutes while it clears her sinuses and then she puts a bunch of her bubble bath in to cover the smell!  When I bought that for her, she had been complaining of sinus trouble, so I got her the scent called BREATHE, and let me tell you, it really opens things up, and it is safe for hot tubs, and she’s got one of those also, so I thought it would be good for her.  When will I ever learn?  I shouldn’t have given it to her, I should have kept it for myself, I sure could use it right now!

Yep, I’m sick with the same crap the boys have!  A lady came to the gym monday and said she hadn’t been there the past 2 weeks because her kids were sick, well he son still had a nasty green runny nose and by Wednesday all the kids did!  I’m cleaning everything after the kids are gone, but I can’t clean it as soon as he puts it in his mouth!!!  SO I’ve got to tell her next time she comes that she can’t leave him if his nose is runny!

OK, I think I ran over my 5 min,,,,,I’ve been typing as fast as I can!!!  Now to brave the store with 3 sick kids!  I know what’s going to happen, I’m going to feel sorry for myself because I’m haveing to do this yet again on my own and I’m going to get chocolate!  Target has the Russel Stovers Organic Chocolates on sale for 2/$4!!  Carmel Turtle, here I come!

I sure wish I had a husband who was PRESENT.  He thinks just because he gets to leave the house for 14 hours a day and talk with other grown ups and sit in a car by himself both ways to work and sit down to eat a lunch that was prepared for him that he doesn’t have to do anything in/around the house or anything with/for the kids.  OH WOW, I’m so looking forward to 7 days on the beach…….Some one please shoot me!  It can even be superficial, I just need a break, before I break!

Whatcha Upto? February 5, 2007

How was your weekend?  How was the Co-Op?  Did DS like it?  Did DD go with y’all or stay with DH?  Did you watch the game?  I just mainly watched the commercials.

I bought The Well Trained Mind and read that during the game.  Hubs wasn’t thrilled with the price, but I think after I read it and put it into effect the price tag will be well worth it!  The book suggests quite a bit of books to use.  I’m hoping we can find most of them at the library.  Which brings me to another problem.  I don’t really know how to find a book at the library.  Can you believe it?  I can’t believe I’ve admitted that!  I just never really understood that whole Dewey decimal thing.  I feel intimidated when I go into the library.  The new one is nice, its a lot bigger, but I still feel like I’m walking in with a sign on my back saying…….DDUUHH!

#1 actually did 3 pages of math while I was at work this morning!
